Get to know us, get involved, attend a monthly forum!

Picture
Each monthly forum features a particular topic vital to the mission of Church Women United, with a focus on issues and concerns affecting the lives of women, children, families, people at the margins, and the larger bioregion of Lane County.

Speakers are experienced in their field, and open our minds, hearts, and imaginations to work for the good of those most in need of advocacy, support, justice, and encouragement in Lane County.

Our monthly forums are open to all who wish to explore the ecumenical dimensions of Christian faith in action, and who desire to share in our work of advancing the mission of Church Women United. You may join through your local church or participate as individuals. Affiliation with a church is NOT required!

When and where we meet ...

Forums and Celebrations

  • Monthly forums feature presentations designed to inform, provoke discussion, and challenge us to spiritually-directed action. Forums take place in. January, February, April, June, September, October, and December. Check the latest issue of the Church Women United of Lane County newsletter, The Vine, for latest information on where and when the next forum will happen. Forums are held on the first Friday of the month, except when scheduled a later Friday due to conflicts in schedule.

  • Celebrations are held from 10:00 to 12:15 on designated Saturdays in March, May and November (generally the first Saturday of the month). At these Saturday celebrations we share music, scripture, a theme coordinated with Church Women United friends near and far, and an inspiring message provided by a local partner, a leader who shares our Church Women United priorities. Celebration programs are created by women immersed in cultures throughout the world. A time for reflection, connection, and forming a resolve to fold everyone into our shared spiritual community.

  • Partners presenting at forums and celebrations work “on the pavement” to improve the lives of others. They bring us latest information on how to help. We are inspired to action. Church Women United members celebrate our unit’s fiscal and activity-based support of an ever-growing roster of community partners.

  • Doors open at 10:00 a.m. at each event. Arrive early to share fellowship. Update others about your community involvement. In-person meetings feature breakfast items provided by members of the hosting faith community. Various church locations in the Eugene/Springfield area welcome us to these monthly events.

  • Every meeting is open to all, including those who do not identify as female or as a member of Church Women United.
